Vice President

John Ferguson is serving his first term on the Genesee Board of Education. He is currently the board’s Vice President and serves on the Finance and Personnel committees. He has earned certifications in construction and in sound communication and is a graduate of Grand Blanc High School.


John is the owner of a sound and communication business that provides services to financial institutions, medical facilities, corporate offices, and other businesses across the Midwest. He has lived in Genesee for over thirty years with his wife Roxanne (Mooney) who is a graduate of
Genesee High School. John and Roxanne have one daughter and one granddaughter.

Treasurer

Kim has been on the Genesee Board of Education for 8 years, serving 6 of those years as the Board Treasurer. She has spent her entire adult career in the bookkeeping / accounting field, which she still loves to this day. 

Kim and her family have lived in the Genesee School District for 30 years and both of her children are Genesee School District alumni.

Trustee

Staci Shelton is serving her first term as a Genesee Board of Education member.  She is a General Motors retiree after 30 years  working for the GM Parts Division.  Staci devoted a large part of her career to Sales and Marketing, representing the ACDelco Brand. 

During that time, Staci also raised 4 kids as a single mom. They are all now young adults working successful careers. 

"Having my kids and raising them in the public school system helped me realize what a tough job our Educators have in today’s world." After remarrying and moving to Genesee Township, Staci decided she needed to get involved and give back to the community. 

"I appreciate the opportunity and feel grateful to be part of it all as I become familiar with the processes and the people of this warm community.”

Trustee

Gary is serving his first term on the Genesee Board of Education.  He serves on the Facility Committee and as the alternate delegate to the GISD Budget Committee.

Gary is a proud Genesee alumni, Class of 1983.  He has two sons, Austin and Brandon, both of whom are also Genesee graduates.

Gary has 40 years of body shop experience as a paint technician.  His hobbies include indulging in vinyl graphics and sheet metal fabrication on race cars.  He also raced cars for 10 years with multiple wins and a track championship.

Tim O'Brien

Trustee

Tim O'Brien is serving his first term as a member of the Genesee Board of Education having been elected in November of 2022. He is a proud graduate of Genesee School District, class of 1975. He received his undergraduate degree from Aquinas College and his Masters at Wayne State University. 

Tim  joined the Haas Elementary staff in 1987 as a 2nd grade teacher and during his tenure taught 5th & 6th grade as well as K-6 PE until his retirement in 2017.  Tim was also a high school coach involved in football, basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Tim's other involvements include being with the Genesee Station II fire department for 10 years and serving on the Johnson Memorial Library Board. 

"I am proud to be able to continue my time in Genesee as a Genesee School Board member. I hope to be able to use my experiences in the Genesee community to help guide the Genesee School District for years to come. Go Wolves!"
